'Survivor: One World' Cast Members Announced

A 51-year-old retired police officer, a San Diego phlebotomist, a Miami swimsuit photographer and a stand-up comedian from freak-friendly Venice, Calif., will be among those competing on the next season of "Survivor."

CBS announced the cast for the upcoming "Survivor: One World" Wednesday, revealing a diverse array of 18 castaways who will compete to outwit, outplay and outlast on the reality television mainstay's 24th season.

This year, the two tribes — dubbed the Salani Tribe and the Manono Tribe, after islands in Samoa — will be divided along gender lines, with both tribes living together on the same beach.

"The castaways must fight the elements, adapt to their new surroundings and vie against each other to stay in the game or be voted out by their peers, all while living together on the same beach. Tribes, separated by men versus women, will have to decide whether to share their resources with each other or leave the opposing tribe to fend for themselves," the network said of the new configuration. "This ultimate social game becomes even more difficult to navigate because alliances could be formed between members of different tribes much earlier, adding yet another layer of intrigue to this competitive game."
