Suspected Gunman Arrested as San Francisco Movie Theater Is Evacuated

Man was behaving erratically ahead of “Allied” showing at AMC Metreon 16, where a gun was later recovered

A man suspected of being armed and acting erratically at San Francisco’s AMC Metreon 16 was arrested Tuesday night after the movie theater was evacuated, according to the San Francisco Police Department, NBC Bay Area reported. A gun was later found at the scene.

The man was yelling and displaying volatile behavior just as the previews wrapped up before a showing of Brad Pitt WWII drama “Allied,” a witness told SF Gate, causing other members of the audience to run out screaming.

Another moviegoer told the San Francisco Chronicle that though the theater was dark, he saw the glint of a gun barrel as the man allegedly waved the firearm.

The investigation is still active and police are asking the public to avoid the area at Fourth and Mission Streets in the heart of the San Francisco shopping area.
