Perhaps this production of Sweeney Todd was just a little bit too realistic.

A high school production of the play in New Zealand went seriously awry on Wednesday when two teenagers were hospitalized due to a mishap with a prop razor, according to Sky News.

The incident occurred during the opening night of the production at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, Sky News reports. During a throat-slitting scene in the play, the prop razor turned out to be not proppy enough, leading to the hospitalization of the teens.

One of the 16 year olds was treated for serious injuries, while the other suffered moderate injuries, Sky News reported. Both youths were released from the hospital the next day.

Calling the incident “a very unfortunate mishap,” head teacher Steve Cole said that the razor had been wrapped in duct tape.

“It had been bound in Cellophane, bound in all sorts of things,” Cole said, adding that the razor was “very non-sharp” and “blunted.”

The good news? Cole said that the show will likely go on, “obviously without those particular props.”
