“Arrival” and “La La Land” have been named the best edited films of 2016 by the American Cinema Editors at the ACE Eddie Awards.

The awards split their top film honor between two categories — one for dramatic films and one for comedies. “Arrival” won the award for the best edited dramatic feature, while “La La Land” was named the best edited comedy film.

Animation and documentary awards went to “Zootopia” and “O.J.: Made in America,” respectively.

All five of the films nominated for the film-editing Oscar were also ACE Eddie Awards nominees, with all except “La La Land” coming from the dramatic category. Over the last 10 years, the ACE Eddie Awards winner has gone on to win the Oscar for Best Film Editing six times, and four ACE Eddie winners have been named Best Picture by the Academy.

Television awards went to “Game of Thrones,” “This Is Us” and “Veep.”

The show took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was hosted by Rachel Bloom. J.J. Abrams received the Filmmaker of the Year Award, while Martin Scorsese presented Thelma Schoonmaker with the Career Achievement Award, and Tommy Schlamme did likewise for TV editor Janet Ashikaga.
