Tanya Greig Perara Joins Universal as SVP of Business Affairs for Film Music

She’ll work closely with Mike Knobloch, Universal’s president of film music and publishing

Tanya Greig Perara has joined Universal Pictures as senior VP of business affairs for film music, the studio announced Thursday. Perara will work closely with Mike Knobloch, president of film music and publishing, to whom she will report.

“Tanya brings her dynamic, multifaceted experience in the music business and a wealth of strong relationships across the industry,” said Knobloch. “With the great variety of Universal films to work with and huge successes like the soundtracks for “Furious 7,” “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Pitch Perfect 2,” our film music and publishing division is firing on all cylinders and we are thrilled to have Tanya join our team.”

In her new role, Perara will lead and manage the business affairs function for all of film music which includes oversight of talent deals, the music licensing team’s negotiations of state of the art licenses with publishers, labels, artists and other rights owners, as well as oversight over current and legacy soundtrack projects, partnering with record labels, and Universal’s own in-house Back Lot Music label.

Prior to joining Universal Pictures, Perara spent three years within the NBCUniversal family as VP of business and legal affairs for Telemundo Media, specializing in unscripted programming and music and talent strategy, and worked for thirteen years at Interscope Geffen A&M Records, most recently as senior VP of emerging business and revenue where she was responsible for developing new business ventures to generate diverse revenue streams.

Perara also serves on the board of directors for USA for Africa and is an officer of the Harvard Law School Women’s Alliance.
