Taraji P. Henson Introduces ‘Stepsons’ Mumford and Sons in ‘SNL’ Promo (Video)

The “Empire” matriarch has four new family members, and they sure can sing

Taraji P. Henson has her hands full with explosive family drama on Fox’s “Empire,” and now Cookie Lyon has even more kids to take care of.

The actress is hosting this weekend’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” along with British rockers Mumford and Sons, and they all shared the stage for the latest NBC promo released on Thursday.

“What most people may not know is that Mumford and Sons also play Cookie’s stepsons on ‘Empire,” cast member Keenan Thompson said.

“The Empire is mine, Momma?” asked one of her new stepsons, as Henson tenderly caressed his face and said: “Cookie’s gonna make it happen, baby.”

In the next clip Thompson demonstrates how great Saturday’s episode is going to be by laying out his hands side by side and saying, “Here is a chain, this is the show … it is clearly off the chain.” Henson was having none of his silliness however, and told him to “put the show back on the chain.”

In an earlier promo released Tuesday, Taran Killam asked Henson if she was anything like her character Cookie in real life.

Henson reared back and delivered an epic smack to Killam’s face, then said, “Don’t ask questions you won’t like the answer to, little boy.”

“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturday at 11.30 p.m. on NBC.
