It was like Christmas came in August on Thursday night for millions of Swifties when Taylor Swift dropped her new single.

The first track from her upcoming album is titled “Look What You Made Me Do”  — and what it made her loyal followers do was explode in excitement.

Swift released the single on iTunes at the turn of midnight east coast time, and within an hour it was the top trend on Twitter and Facebook.

While not everyone loves the new track — with some Twitter users even calling it downright “bad” — its arrival definitely got people talking.

Last week, Swift sparked a global panic when her social-media accounts were suddenly bereft of posts, but the information blackout also ignited hope that new material was coming soon.

Thankfully, two days ago she announced that her sixth studio album, “Reputation,” will be released on Nov. 10.

Swift’s previous album, “1989,” was released in October 2014 and debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard 200. During the first week of release, it sold 1.287 million copies. It eventually became the best-selling album of 2014 in the United States. “1989” also won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, after she won in 2010 for her album, “Fearless.”
