Taylor Swift Takes Over ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ With Live Performances, Memories of Getting Kicked Out (Video)

“Shake It Off” singer managed to make her way into the studio at 14-years old, but was booted out before she could perform

It may have caused a traffic headache in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, but Taylor Swift rocked the house during an outdoor performance taped for ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Swift performed her smash hit “Shake It Off,” that officially pushed her fully into pop territory, as well as her newly released single “Out of the Woods.”

Afterward, she sat down with Kimmel to talk about the first time she ever visited his show. There were no traffic jams of any kind 10 years ago when a 14-year-old Swift showed up with her guitar and her mom.

But while she made it into the studio, she did get kicked out by Scott Igoe, who books the musical acts for the show. While Swift was probably upset about it at the time — she only wanted to play him a song — she’s since gotten over it. Worldwide success probably makes it easier.

“All’s well that ends well because I think of it like this,” Swift told Igoe. “I think you probably would have gotten in more trouble with Jimmy had he wandered out and been like, ‘Why is there this random 14-year-old tiny child sitting here with a guitar case? What’s happening here?’”

Now, of course, she doesn’t mind being outside Kimmel’s studio, because it was the only way the approximately 15,000 screaming fans who showed up to watch her perform could have possibly seen her.

Taylor Swift‘s latest album “1989,” which sees the artist stepping away from country into a fully pop sound, drops Oct. 27. While it’s a departure for her fifth album, Swift said she’s more confident about this album than any of her previous efforts.

Watch Swift perform her new single “Out of the Woods in the video above. She talks about getting thrown out in the interview below, followed by a bonus video of Swift’s live performance of “Shake It Off.”

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on ABC.
