Turner Classic Movies will pay tribute to actor-director Dennis Hopper on Tuesday, June 8, when it televises five of his movies, beginning in primetime and extending into the overnight and early morning hours.
"The Sons of Katie Elder," the 1965 Western in which Hopper co-starred with John Wayne and Dean Martin, will kick things off at 8 p.m., followed by the 1969 Western, "True Grit," also with John Wayne, at 10:15.
"Rebel Without a Cause," the 1955 film in which Hopper made his film debut, as one of the rebellous teens, will be shown at 12:30 a.m., followed by the film he might be most noted for, "Easy Rider," the 1969 film with Peter Fonda.
Closing out the tribute at 4:15 a.m. will be "Night Tide," a 1963 film in which he starred as a lonely sale who falls in love with a mysterious woman in Santa Monica.
Hopper died on Saturday of cancer.
