Technicolor Signs Long-Term Pact with Relativity

Company will provide Ryan Kavanaugh’s independent studio with production and post-production services

Technicolor has formed a strategic partnership with Relativity Media to provide a range of production and post-production services for the studio, the two companies announced on Monday.

The pact augments Ryan Kavanaugh's recent moves to transform Relativity into a full fledged independent studio. Over the last few months, Relativity has begun releasing films such as last weekend's "Season of the Witch" under its own umbrella as opposed to partnering with a larger studio partner to assist with distribution.

In addition, Technicolor will oversee release printing and distribution services for the company's films.

Under the terms of the exclusive long-term agreement, Technicolor will provide visual effects and film services including 35mm trailers release printing, and front-end negative processing.

Technicolor will also be a preferred provider a number of digital services including DVD compression & authoring, media management, and digital delivery to consumers.

“We are delighted to be broadening and deepening our relationship with a fast moving partner like Relativity Media as they continue evolving their business model,” Frederic Rose, CEO of Technicolor, said in a statement. “As the industry shifts rapidly to digital, we are committed to continue our investment in technology innovation to provide the most efficient and advanced workflows and services to our partners.”
