‘Teen Beach’ Alum John DeLuca on Working With ‘SNL’ Crew, Playing Hunky Lifeguard in ‘Staten Island Summer’ (Video)

In new episode of TheWrap’s “Drinking With the Stars,” the rising star discusses his role as guy candy in new wet hot summer comedy

On the latest episode of TheWrap‘s popular video series “Drinking with the Stars,” “Staten Island Summer” star John DeLuca sat down with film reporter Jeff Sneider to discuss his work in the lifeguard comedy, which is currently available on Netflix and iTunes.

DeLuca and Sneider enjoyed drinks at Bootsy Bellows in West Hollywood, where the “Teen Beach” alum talked about fitting in with and improvising alongside “Saturday Night Live” players Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, Mike O’Brien and Colin Jost, the latter of whom wrote the film.

DeLuca, who looks just like a young Tom Cruise, also talked about playing the film’s eye candy — a refreshing change given Hollywood’s frequent objectification of young women.

“Staten Island Summer” finds DeLuca playing a hunky lifeguard who must seduce Gina Gershon to help his friends throw a wild pool party before they head off to college.
