‘Terminator,’ ‘Rocky’ Coming to YouTube in MGM Deal

“West Side Story,” “Hoosiers,” and “Moonstruck” among films that will be available to rent on YouTube and Google Plus

Move over adorable kitten and puppy videos, and make way for a cyborg killing machine from the future.

The science fiction classic "The Terminator" is  just one of the 600 films that Google Plus and YouTube will offer for rent in the United States and Canada under a new deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Besides being able to watch Arnold Schwarzenegger's robotic hitman, YouTube users will be able to access such romantic greats as "Moonstruck" and Best Picture Oscar winners like "West Side Story" and "Rocky."

Over the last year, YouTube has been wrapping up content deals with the major Hollywood players in an effort to bring premium movies and television shows to a platform that is best known for humorous user-generated short films like "David After Dentist."

To that end, YouTube now has deals with five of the six major studios — the one holdout being Fox. It also has pacts with more than 10 indie studios, among them Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company.

Rentals are typically available for 48 hours and cost $3.99 for new releases and $2.99 for older movies.

High-definition versions usually cost $4.99.

Among the other MGM titles that will be joining YouTube and Google Plus' rolls are "Robocop," "Hot Tub Time Machine," "Rain Man" and "Hoosiers."
