CW Picks Up Military Drama ‘Valor’ to Series

Matt Barr stars in series from “Beauty and the Beast” executive producer Bill Habor

The CW has made its second new series pickup for next season, the military drama “Valor,” the network announced Wednesday.

“Valor” will join “Dynasty” on the network’s roster of new series.

The series stars Matt Barr, Christina Ochoa, Charlie Barnett, W. Trè Davis, Corbin Reid, Nigel Thatch and Melissa Roxburgh.

From CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Bill Haber, Anna Fricke, Kyle Jarrow and Michael Robin, “Valor” is about how the boundaries between military discipline and human desire are tested on a US Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine international and domestic missions.

The drama unfolds in the present as well as in flashbacks to a failed mission involving one of the first female pilots in the unit, ultimately uncovering layers of personal and government/military secrets, and leading to a season-long plan to rescue a group of MIA soldiers.

There’s no word yet on how many episodes “Valor’s” first season will run for. The network has renewed nearly all of its returning series. Earlier, The CW canceled freshman dramas “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency.” “The Originals” and “iZombie” still remain in limbo in terms of renewal or cancellation.
