WGN America just dropped a pretty big casting bomb: Mamie Gummer (“The Good Wife”) has been cast in a recurring role on the second season of drama “Manhattan.”

Meryl Streep‘s daughter will play Nora, a street-smart spy sent to the Hill as a liaison to Jim Meeks (Christopher Denham). She’ll use “her charm and sexuality to pass atomic secrets to the Soviets,” the cable channel said on Wednesday.

Created by Sam Shaw and directed by Thomas Schlamme, “Manhattan” begins production on its second season in Santa Fe, New Mexico on April 14. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television, Skydance Television and Tribune Studios.

Season 2 of “Manhattan” continues to follow the lives of residents in Los Alamos as they race to detonate the first nuclear bomb in history. In the world’s most secretive city, the scientists and their families surrender freedoms and sacrifice sanity as the Cold War looms.

The cast also includes John Benjamin Hickey, Olivia Williams, William Petersen. Ashley Zukerman, Rachel Brosnahan, Daniel Stern, Katja Herbers, Harry Lloyd and Michael Chernus.

“Manhattan” is executive produced by Shaw, Schlamme, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross and Dustin Thomason.
