Xander Berkeley has been cast in season six of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” an individual with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap.

Berkeley’s role in the series is currently unknown, but fans are speculating he will play a character based on Negan, a major antagonist from the graphic novels. Negan is the leader of a group known as the Saviors, who extort food and supplies from Rick and his group.

Berkeley famously played counter terrorism leader George Mason on the Fox series “24” alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Dennis Haysbert. He also appeared in films like “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Taken.”

The hit zombie apocalypse show recently promoted four actors to series regulars. Tovah Feldshuh, Alexandra Breckenridge and Austin Nichols all played residents of Alexandria in season five, but will return as regulars for season six.

Likewise, fan favorite Lennie James, who plays Morgan, who was also promoted to series regular after a handful of appearances.
