Ratings: ABC ‘Whispers’ Debut Delivers Loud Monday Night Win

NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” tops night individually in both key demo and total viewers

ABC topped Monday night in both the key 18-49 ratings demographic and in total viewers, thanks in part to a resounding start from new alien invasion drama, “The Whispers,” which got a boost from “The Bachelorette” lead-in.

NBC was a close runner-up in the demo, as “American Ninja Warrior” was the evening’s top individual offering. If “The Island” was stronger, the broadcast channel could have potentially toppled ABC.

For Fox, “So You Think You Can Dance’s” debut dipped from last summer’s premiere. CBS was runner-up in total viewers last night, despite airing entirely reruns.

ABC was first in ratings with a 1.8 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted demo and in total viewers with an average of 6.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Bachelorette” at 8 p.m. earned a 1.9/6 and 6.5 million viewers. “The Whispers” at 10 posted a 1.5/5 and 5.7 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.7/6 and third in viewers with 5.8 million. “American Ninja Warrior” at 8 scored a 2.0/7 and 6.8 million viewers. “The Island” at 10 received a 1.2/4 and 3.8 million viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 1.2/4 and fourth in viewers with 3.9 million. “So You Think You Can Dance” at 8 was the only show on the network’s schedule.

CBS was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/3, but second in viewers with 6.1 million, airing just repeats.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.9/3 and in viewers with 2.4 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.5 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 586,000, airing only reruns.
