TheWrap Announces Its 2010 Awards Screening Series

TheWrap announces its screening series for 2010 – including ‘The King’s Speech,’ ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Biutiful’

To our Readers:

I am thrilled to announce TheWrap's second annual Awards Season Screening Series.

The series features 12 of the most significant films of 2010, and will screen at the Arclight Sherman Oaks through  December 2010, followed by question-and-answer sessions with the film's talent.

The films are open to members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the DGA, PGA and WGA members, and to subscribers to TheWrap's daily email newsletter, First Take. To sign up to FT and receive invitations, Register Here.

"The King's Speech"
 A story of the man who became King George VI, the father of Queen Elizabeth II. Starring Helena Bonham Carter, Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Guy Pearce, and Michael Gambon. Directed by Tom Hooper.

"Black Swan"
A thriller that zeros in on the relationship between a veteran ballet dancer and a rival. Starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Winona Ryder. Directed by Darren Aronofsky.

"Conviction"
A working mother puts herself through law school in an effort to represent her brother, who has been wrongfully convicted of murder and has exhausted his chances to appeal his conviction through public defenders. Starring Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell. Directed by Tony Goldwyn.

"Barney's Version"

Take a ride through the life and memories of Barney Panofsky, a hard-drinking, cigar-smoking, foulmouthed 65-year old hockey fanatic and television producer, as he reflects on his life's successes and (numerous) gaffes and failures as the final chapters of his own existence come sharply into focus. Starring Dustin Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, and Minnie Driver. Directed by Richard J. Lewis.

"Blue Valentine"
The film centers on a contemporary married couple, charting their evolution over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods. Starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. Directed by Derek Cianfrance.

"Biutiful"
This is a story of a man in free fall. Connected with the afterlife, Uxbal is a tragic hero and father of two who's sensing the danger of death. He struggles with a tainted reality and a fate that works against him in order to forgive, for love, and forever. Starring Javier Bardem. Directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu.

Documentaries:

"The Two Escobars"
Pablo Escobar was the richest, most powerful drug kingpin in the world, ruling the Medellín Cartel with an iron fist. Andres Escobar was the biggest soccer star in Colombia. The two were not related, but their fates were inextricably-and fatally-intertwined. Directed by Jeff and Michael Zimbalist.

"Catfish"

"Inside Job"                        
'InsideJob' provides a comprehensive analysis of the global financial crisis of 2008, which at a cost over $20 trillion, caused millions of people to lose their jobs and homes in the worst recession since the Great Depression. Directed by Charles Ferguson.
