TheWrap scored five National Entertainment Journalism Awards nominations Tuesday, including a nod for Best Entertainment Website.
In addition, the site was honored for its hard news coverage and analysis. The annual awards are sponsored by the Los Angeles Press Club and will be held on Nov. 18.
Editor-in-Chief Sharon Waxman received two nominations in the News and Entertainment Blog by an Individual categories.
She was cited for her reporting on "Mel Gibson Vs. Joe Eszterhas on Maccabee Movie," which documented the screenwriter's charges of anti-Semitism against the "Braveheart" star, as well as for her "Waxword" column examining the business of entertainment.
Also nominated were film reporters Lucas Shaw and Brent Lang in the Commentary Analysis/Trend category. Shaw's "How the Second Screen is Revolutionizing Television" was recognized for its in-depth look at the networks' efforts to boost viewership with apps and websites tied to programs.
Lang was honored for "Why Television, Not Film, Is Driving Profits at Major Media Companies," an examination of the power shift from the big to the small screen at companies like Time-Warner and News Corp.
The other nominees for Best Entertainment Website are Huffington Post, People.com, RadarOnline, KCET and the Hollywood Reporter.
