“Captain Phillips” and “Bad Grandpa” also among the film titles acquired by FX
Thor is gonna bring the hammer down at FX.
FX Networks has acquired the television premiere rights to “Thor: The Dark World,” which raked in $86 million for its opening weekend at the domestic box office this weekend, to air across the suite of FX channels in 2015.
FX has also acquired the rights to the Sandra Bullock-George Clooney film “Gravity” and the Tom Hanks pirate drama “Captain Phillips,” along with “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa,” among other titles.
All told, the network — which launched its movie-centric new network FXM this fall — has acquired eight of the Top 10 biggest box-office hits of the year, and approximately two-thirds of the year's Top 30 films.
