‘Thor: The Dark World’s’ Alan Taylor to Direct Next ‘Terminator’ Movie

Film is expected to serve as the first in a standalone trilogy that will see the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger

Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have tapped Alan Taylor to direct the next “Terminator” movie, an individual close to the project has told TheWrap.

Taylor recently directed “Thor: The Dark World,” which he landed thanks to his work on “Game of Thrones.”

Other directors who were reportedly in the mix include Oscar winner Ang Lee, Rian Johnson (“Looper”) and Denis Villeneuve (“Prisoners”), indicating an upscale approach to the sci-fi material.

Rather than go by “Terminator 5,” the new movie is expected to serve as the first film in a standalone trilogy that will see the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Annapurna’s Megan Ellison will produce with her brother David Ellison of Skydance. The Ellisons’ companies are co-financing the movie along with Paramount, which will distribute on June 26, 2015.

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the script.

He’s repped by UTA.
