Tim Burton’s ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ Gets Peculiar New Trailer (Video)

Fox’s adaptation of Ransom Rigg’s YA fantasty book is due in theaters Sept. 30

20th Century Fox has released a second trailer for Tim Burton’s adaptation of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” based on Ransom Rigg’s best-selling fantasy book of the same name — and it’s just as peculiar as the first.

Eva Green (“Casino Royale”) stars as Miss Peregrine, who maintains the home for children with supernatural abilities of all kinds — including an invisible boy, a gravity-defying girl and a child who eats from a mouth at the back of her head.

Asa Butterfield (“Ender’s Game”) plays a new arrival named Jake whom she tasks with protecting the pack of kids in her absence.

When Jake discovers clues to a mystery that spans alternate realities and times, he uncovers a secret refuge known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As he learns about the residents and their unusual abilities, Jake realizes that safety is an illusion, and danger lurks in the form of powerful, hidden enemies.

Samuel L. Jackson pops up in the trailer with a threatening look — and all-white eyes. The cast also includes Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, Ella Purnell and Judi Dench.

Burton directs from a script by Jane Goldman. Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing.

“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” lands in theaters Sept. 30.
