Tim McGraw Giving Away 25 Houses to Military Vets During His Summer Tour

McGraw will give away one mortgage-free home to wounded military vets on each tour stop, beginning with his Tampa concert on June 2

Here's a celebrity who's walking the walk this Memorial Day weekend: country star Tim McGraw is launching HomeFront, a national program that will award mortgage-free homes to wounded military vets in the 25 cities on McGraw's summer tour.

Partnering with Chase and Operation Homefront, McGraw will give away one house to a military family in need in each of the stops on his tour, beginning with Tampa on June 2.

ACM Lifting Lives, the Academy of Country Music charity, and The Premier Group (on behalf of the North Carolina Furniture Manufacturers) will also support HomeFront with contributions throughout the summer.

McGraw is kicking off the program with a concert for service members at New York City's Beacon Theatre on Memorial Day. The concert will stream live on YouTube and to military bases around the world on The Pentagon Channel.

"My sister's a veteran of the first Gulf War. My uncle was a Vietnam veteran and my grandfather was a World War II veteran," McGraw said in a statement.

"I've always felt a deep sense of respect and obligation to our troops. Being able to reward them for their dedicated work with a new home will be even more rewarding for us.  It feels so good to give back to them, and to have the opportunity to entertain them on Memorial Day is something I'm honored to do."

McGraw's "Brothers of the Sun" summer tour — a stadium-only run with fellow country star Kenny Chesney — comes just as he signed a new deal with Big Machine Records.

Three-time Grammy winner McGraw has sold more than 37 million albums, and has more than two dozen number one singles.
