USA’s medical drama pilot “Rush” has found its leading man.
The network has cast U.K. actor Tom Ellis in the title role of Dr. William Rush.
The series has also cast “Coach Carter” star Rick Gonzales in the role of Manny Maquis, a well-connected dealer who considers Rush a friend as well as a client.
Rush is described as a brilliant physician whose “practice” is acting as a highly paid on call doctor for those in medical need. But because of who they are, what they’ve done or what they are hiding, his patients can’t seek traditional treatment.
Ellis (pictured) is best known for his role in the BBC series “Miranda.”
The project comes from Jonathan Levine (“The Wackness,” “Warm Bodies”) as well as Fox 21 and Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo of the Little Engine production company.
