This holiday season, Bravo’s “Top Chef” alum Stefan Richter is giving back by giving up his legs for a day.
Hoping to raise support and awareness for the underserved community of the physically disabled, Richter will spend a full day in a wheelchair on Monday as a part of the NextStep Wheelchair for a Day Challenge, hosted by the NextStep Charity.
Richter, who owns Stefan’s at L.A. Farm restaurant in Santa Monica, Calif., knows that his day in a wheelchair will be no easy feat.
“My recent test run in the wheelchair was an eye-opening experience,” he said. “Monday will definitely be a hurdle to overcome, but I look forward to gaining a better perspective on the challenges the physically disabled encounter on a daily basis,” said Richter, whose fast-paced life in L.A. includes running several restaurants and his own catering company.
The NextStep Charity works in communities around the globe to provide fitness and health programs for those affected by paralysis and mobility impairments.
