Fox Confirms Brian Lewis Fired for ‘Financial Irregularities’ (Updated)

Executive vice president of corporate communications and longtime employee was fired on July 25

Updated, 3:19 p.m.: A 21st Century Fox spokesperson has told TheWrap that Brian Lewis was fired for cause. Here's the statement:

"After an extensive internal investigation of Brian Lewis' conduct by Fox News, it was determined that he should be terminated for cause, specifically for issues relating to financial irregularities, as well as for multiple, material and significant breaches of his employment contract. He was terminated for cause on July 25."

Previously: Brian Lewis, senior advisor to Roger Ailes and Fox's executive vice president of corporate communications, has been ousted from the company, TheWrap has learned.

Lewis oversaw corporate communications and public relations for Fox News, Fox Business Channel, Fox TV stations, Twentieth television and MyNetworkTV. Perhaps more significantly, he was Fox News CEO and Fox TV stations chairman Roger Ailes' senior advisor.

Though Fox News' website still lists Lewis as an employee, emails to his address return an auto-reply saying that he is "out of the office," with no date or time that he is expected to return.

Lewis began his career at Fox News in 1996 as its vice president of media relations. He was promoted to senior vice president of corporate communications in 2000, and had been in his current position since 2006.
