"Star Trek," "Top Gun," "Braveheart" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's" are among the Paramount Pictures titles coming to Amazon Prime under a new pact between the studio and the retailer.
The move comes as Amazon's Prime Instant Video and YouTube are rapidly expanding their selection of movies and television shows as part of an effort to loosen Netflix's chokehold on the video streaming market.
To that end, Amazon has already inked deals with Universal Pictures, Lionsgate and Disney-ABC. The new distribution agreement with Paramount brings the number of movies and television shows it offers to more than 17,000.
“We are continuing to invest in building a vast selection for Prime Instant Video and are excited to bring Prime customers some of the most renowned and popular films in cinema history under this new agreement with Paramount,” Brad Beale, director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon, said in a statement.

For its part, Netflix has begun to bet more heavily on original programming such as its recently launched gangster-out-of-water comedy "Lilyhammer" and its upcoming political thriller "House of Cards," starring Kevin Spacey.
Amazon's Prime service costs members $79 annually and offers users faster shipping, in addition to streaming access to movies and television shows.
