Toronto Deals: Alec Baldwin, Patrick Wilson Team Up for Thriller ‘Caught Stealing’

Patrick Wilson plays an alcoholic bartender who gets caught up with some Russian mobsters and a sadistic cop, played by Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin and Patrick Wilson will star in the noir thriller "Caught Stealing," Myriad Pictures said Friday.

Getty ImagesWilson will play an alcoholic bartender who, back in the day, was a top baseball prospect. After looking after his neighbor's cat, he inadvertently gets caught up in a major conspiracy when it turns out a big secret is hidden in the feline's cage.

Baldwin plays a sadistic cop — just one of the dangerous adversaries on Wilson's tail, a group that includes a Samoan hit man and some Russian mobsters.

Baldwin's stint as the profit-loving boss on NBC's "30 Rock" ends this season. He recently appeared in supporting roles in the musical dud "Rock of Ages" and Woody Allen's "To Rome With Love." Wilson, who is best known for his caddish role in "Little Children," recently starred opposite Charlize Theron in "Young Adult."

The film is written by David Hayter ("X-Men," "Watchmen") and based on a novel by Charlie Huston.  A director has yet to be named. Myriad will handle worldwide rights to the film and is pre-selling it at the Toronto Film Festival this week.

Lost Rhino Films' Marcus Chait, James Carpinello and Patrick Wilson will produce. Paula Wagner is executive producing along with Myriad's Kirk D'Amico. Myriad and Lost Rhino are in talks with potential directors for the project.
