Toronto Film Festival Adds Shawn Ku’s Drama ‘Beautiful Boy’

Star Alan Tudyk talks about his role in Michael Bay’s “Transformers 3”

Shawn Ku's indie drama "Beautiful Boy" will play the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Movie blogger Mira Sharma sat down with actor Alan Tudyk who revealed the news, which has been echoed by co-star Austin Nichols on Twitter.

The film stars Michael Sheen and Maria Bello as Bill and Kate Carroll, an unhappily married couple who are trying to put the pieces of their life back together after learning that their son was responsible for a college massacre before committing suicide. They decide to move in with Kate's brother and his wife, played by Tudyk and actress Moon Bloodgood.

Ku co-wrote the script with Michael Armbuster, and the film co-stars Kyle Gallner and Meat Loaf.

Tudyk next appears in Paramount's "Transformers 3," which Michael Bay is currently filming in Chicago. Tudyk shed some light on his character, saying he'll play a fellow agent of John Turturro's Agent Simmons, who sort of acts as "his assistant and weapons expert, computer hacker and cyber sleuth."

"Transformers 3" is scheduled for release on July 1, 2011.
