Tracey Ullman Channels Judi Dench, Maggie Smith on HBO Series (Video)

As HBO says, “The woman of great characters is back”

Dame Judi Dench is on a mischievous streak in Britain, keying cars and… Actually, that’s just Tracey Ullman doing a spot-on impression in her new HBO series “Tracey Ullman‘s Show.”

A new trailer shows Ullman doing what she does best — making viewers laugh. The sketch comedy series has the six-time Emmy winner masquerading in a variety of wacky characters and celebrity impressions, including Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Carole Middleton (Princess Kate’s mother) and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

In Ullman’s world, these ladies are quite different than in their public lives — Dench slashes tires, Smith reveals her opinion of “Star Trek” fans (hint: it’s not nice), and Merkel learns she is referred to as a “sturdy German Pussycat Doll.”

Ullman’s first taste of success on American network television was with her 1977 Fox series “The Tracey Ullman Show” — which also gave birth to “The Simpsons” — and later on with HBO’s “Tracey Takes On…” and Showtime’s “Tracey Ullman‘s State of the Union.”

Tracey Ullman‘s Show” originally aired on BBC One in the UK in January, but premieres in the U.S. Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 p.m. ET on HBO.
