Kate Mara, Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany and Cillian Murphy co-star in Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut
Johnny Depp has apparently never seen “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” because he is all about the rise of the machines in the first trailer for “Transcendence.”
“Once online, a sentient machine will quickly overcome the limits of biology,” Depp says in the teaser (above). “In a short time, its analytical power will be greater than the collective intelligence of every person born in the history of the world.”
Depp plays a scientist working toward making the theory of Technological Singularity a reality with his colleague, played by Rebecca Hall, while a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent it.
The science fiction film is “Dark Knight” trilogy cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut, which lands in theaters on April 18.
