Tribeca Film Festival Announces 2013 Dates

Now in its 11th year, Tribeca Film Festival will take place April 17-28, and will include transmedia content for the first time

The Tribeca Film Festival has announced that next year's festival will take place from April 17 through April 28 in lower Manhattan.

The festival celebrated its 10th anniversary in April; it was launched by Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal in 2002, and over the years has premiered such films as "Let the Right One In," "The Exploding Girl" and the Oscar-winning documentary "Taxi to the Dark Side."

Tribeca Enterprises also announced that the 2013 festival will add a transmedia element and award, with the Tribeca Film Institute's director of digital initiatives, Ingrid Kopp, joining the programming team to select works that use multiplatform storytelling for the festival.

Bombay Sapphire gin, which set up a venue to screen transmedia material at this year's festival, will back the new program.

Tribeca will begin accepting submissions of films and transmedia works on Sept. 17. Other deadlines are Oct. 19 (early deadline for features, shorts and transmedia), Nov. 30 (official deadline) and Dec. 28 (late deadline for feature films only).

Submission forms will be available on Sept. 17 at TribecaFilm.com/Festival.
