‘True Blood’ Gets Season 6 Premiere Date

"True Blood" will kick off Season 6 on June 16

Take heart — or at least a vein — "True Blood" devotees; Season 6 of the HBO vampire series will return June 16 at 9 p.m.

The 10-episode season will feature some new faces joining series stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard. British "EastEnders" actor Rob Kazinsky has signed on as a regular. Kazinsly will play Ben, a faerie who helps Sookie (Paquin) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) unravel the mystery of their parents' murders.

"Blade Runner" star Rutger Hauer will also appear in the sixth season, as Macklyn, a hady character with a long standing connection to Sookie and Jason.

In addition to the new cast members, "True Blood" also received a new showrunner earlier this month. Mark Hudis, who was tapped to replace series creator Alan Ball as showrunner, stepped down in early March. According to HBO, Hudis vacated the post in order to take on development, as per his overall deal with HBO.

Hudis is being replaced by "True Blood" co-executive producer Brian Buckner, who's been on staff since the show's first season.
