Trump Says Nothing in Big Speech on Afghanistan

No numbers, few specifics, nothing

Donald Trump’s primetime address to the nation, his first since taking office, was supposed to lay out his future plan to resolve the 16-year-old conflict in Afghanistan.

But as The New York Times concluded, “he failed to specify either the number of troops that would be committed, or the conditions by which he would judge the success of their mission there.”

In short, it was a nothing-burger… which led to some pretty hilarious tweets.

Some were just flat out confused…

Of those who were able to follow Trump’s narrative, the response wasn’t any better.

More than a few had this warning to TV pundits’ post-game analysis:

Which at least one prominent White House correspondent chose to ignore, pulling a Van Jones with this tweet.

These guys made fun of his lack of details.

While these had suggestions as to who he should send to Afghanistan… like these folks.
