Popular NBC television stars Howie Mandel and Mariska Hargitay have independently been stricken with medical misfortune in recent days. Yesterday, Mandel, host of "Deal or No Deal," was hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat in Toronto; the city's native son had been in the city promoting his new show "Howie Do It!" and is expected to be released later today. Hargitay, star of "Law and Order: SVU," is suffering from a partially collapsed lung (pneumothorax), but according to a rep, she will appear in all episodes for the rest of the show's season.
