The production company will develop and produce scripted TV projects for the cable channel
AMC has inked a first look deal with Ridley Scott's Scott Free productions. Under the pact, the company will develop and produce scripted television projects for the cable channel.
"Scott Free boasts such an impressive list of credits in both film and television and we look forward to collaborating with a company that shares this same vision for and commitment to great material," said AMC's executive vice president of original programming, production and digital content, Joel Stillerman, in a statement.
The deal covers several projects already in development, including the “Untitled Cahill/Nicotero/Scott Free Project” from executive producer and writer Jason Cahill (“Fringe”, “Sopranos”) and executive producer and Emmy Award winning prosthetic makeup artist Greg Nicotero (“The Walking Dead”), “Raiders” from executive producer and writer Evan Wright (“Generation Kill”).
Ahead of this deal, AMC and Scott Free Production announced it had partnered on “The Terror” from writer and co-executive producer David Kajganich (“The Invasion,” “Blood Creek”).
Scott Free's Television president David Zucker expressed admiration for AMC. "We greatly appreciate the shared ambition for original ideas, terrific material and top-drawer talent, and are eager for the chance to produce compelling entertainment that we hope the audiences will embrace,” Zucker said.
This is the first time Scott Free Productions has entered a first look deal with a TV network.
Scott Free currently produces CBS's "The Good Wife," Discovery Channel's first scripted series "Klondike," and Showtime's "The Vatican." It is also producing "Killing Kennedy" for the National Geographic Channel.
