Anne Heche has landed the lead role in the NBC pilot "Save Me," in which she'll play a woman who becomes convinced after an accident that she's channeling God.

It's familiar territory for the "Hung" actress, who says she once believed something similar about herself.

NBC orderd the pilot after Heche's casting, people familiar with the deal told TheWrap.

In her memoir "Call Me Crazy" -- which she wrote after a famous, public meltdown -- Heche said at one point she went "insane" and believed she was two people. One of her personalities, Celestia, hailed from another dimension and spoke directly to God in a secret language.

Heche also appears in the upcoming cop drama "Rampart."
