"Balloon boy" dad Richard Heene was sentenced Wednesday to 90 days in jail for his part in the October hoax that transfixed the nation. His wife received four years of probation.
Judge Stephen Schapanski placed him on four-years probation and postponed the sentence until Jan. 11. Thirty days will be served in the jail, and 60 days may be served at night, if he is working during the day.
He also received four years of probation and was ordered to pay as-yet unspecified restitution.
Heene choked back tears and apologized before the judge: "I do want to reiterate that I'm very, very sorry," he said.
