"Walt is the new kingpin," "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan declares in new sneak peek at the AMC hit's final run
"Breaking Bad" breaks into its fifth and final season on Sunday, and with fans still reeling over the explosive season four finale, series star Bryan Cranston, creator Vince Gilligan and the rest are offering an enticing peek into what's to come so that people can prepare themselves.
From the look of things, there will be a lot to prepare for.
First of all, make no mistake: Walt White will be going full badass for the series' final run. With fried-chicken entrepreneur/meth baron Gus Fring out of the way, White is ready to fully make the transformation from mild-mannered science teacher to the new boss in town.
"This year, I gotta tell you, what you're gonna see new is Walt winning," Gilligan says in the preview. "Gus Fring is dead, and Walt is the kingpin."
"From season 4 to season 5, he's become Heisenberg," Cranston adds, referring to the no-nonsense alter-ego that White has created for himself.
Another thing to know: That showdown between White and his DEA agent brother-in-law Hank Schrader that you've always expected is coming? Yep, it's probably happening.
"[Hank] knows it's not over, and he's not going to give up until he catches Heisenberg," says Dean Norris, who plays Schrader.
And, yes; while previous seasons have set expectations ridiculously high, they are about to get surpassed with the upcoming season.
"Just when you think it can't get any bigger, badder, darker, it all does," says Anna Gunn, who portrays Walt's wife Skyler White.
