CW and McG Developing 'Alice in Wonderland' Retelling

The CW is preparing to go through the looking glass with McG, with a modern-day retelling of the "Alice in Wonderland" saga, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The project, dubbed "Wunderland," is described as a contemporary reimagining of Alice in Wonderland centered on a young female detective in present-day Los Angeles who discovers another world that exists under the surface of this ultra-modern city.

McG (left) will executive-produce the project, along with his Wonderland partner Peter Johnson.

Chad Hodge, who created NBC's short-lived 2011 drama "The Playboy Club," will write the project and also executive-produce.

McG has a long-standing relationship with the CW, executive-producing the network's "Supernatural" and "Nikita."

Deadline first reported the news of the "Wunderland" development.
