Looks like it will be a happy new year for cable after all.

Averting going to black at midnight, E! and Style will make it to 2011 on DISH Network and Time Warner Cable has reached a deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group.

“E!, Style and DISH Network have agreed to a short-term extension in hopes of reaching a long-term solution,” Comcast spokesman Neil Schubert told TheWrap early Friday evening. The Comcast-owned cable channels will continue to broadcast past midnight on New Year’s Eve when their current carriage deal with the satellite service expires.

No further details of the tactical agreement were given.

Time Warner Cable has also negotiated with Sinclair to keep its stations broadcasting uninterrupted until Jan. 14 as the parties try to figure out a long-term solution.

The almost last minute extensions come one day after DirecTV announced that it had reached a carriage agreement with 29 Hearst stations.
