The “Late Show” taping site is becoming a magnet for vandals
If this keeps up, David Letterman will be able to put together a Top 10 list on different ways to vandalize his theater.
Mere days after a would-be actor broke into the Ed Sullivan Theater, where Letterman tapes "Late Show With David Letterman," a second man has been arrested for vandalizing the famed venue.
An NYPD spokesperson confirms to TheWrap that Alvin Moore, 42, was arrested early this morning after attempting to gain entrance to the theater's vestibule by smashing several window panes.
Police responded to a burglary-in-progress call shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday and arrived to discover that theater security had detained Moore, who used a a newspaper box to smash the glass. Moore was charged with burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree menacing, after being treated for a laceration on is forehead that he'd incurred during the incident.
On Sunday, police arrested unemployed actor James Whittemore was arrested after being caught trashing the theater lobby on a security camera. Whittemore, who had reportedly spent several hours drinking at a nearby bar beforehand, urinated on the theater's glass lobby doors before kicking one of them in.
Letterman managed to wring a few laughs out of the first act of vandalism, wisecracking, "I'm told that Jay [Leno] has an alibi." Viewers will have to tune in tonight to find out if the late-night mainstay can get a few more chortles out of this latest incident.
CBS did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.
