The Directors Guild of America announced a tentative agreement with the broadcast networks, covering about 1,000 employees working in news and sports operations.
The tentative three-year Network Staff Agreement calls for 2 percent wage increases in years two and three, as well as 1 percent increase in employer health-plan contributions.
The deal also gives the DGA jurisdiction over secondary digital channels established by CBS and NBC.
Negotiations for the new agreement apparently went fairly smooth, taking less than two weeks and culminating Sept. 25.
"It's no secret that the past few years have been extremely difficult for local stations and news operations," said DGA president Taylor Hackford, in a statement. "Despite this challenging climate, the negotiations committee successfully achieved a number of gains, which I think is an indication of the extremely high value our members bring to news, sports and operations."
