DISH Network spoke out Wednesday in support of Senator Herb Kohl’s (D-WI) opposition to the AT&T/T-Mobile merger.

As chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Kohl has been an impassioned advocate for net neutrality, and sees the merger, which would allow AT&T/T-Mobile to prioritize some traffic over others.

"Chairman Kohl's thoughtful and thorough letter urging the FCC and U.S. Department of Justice to reject the proposed AT&T/T-Mobile merger reflects the chairman's experience as a business owner as well as his record as a legislator,” DISH said in a statement. “Competition is the life-blood of a market economy, and Chairman Kohl correctly asserts the harm to competition that this merger would inflict."

DISH’s stance is no doubt prompted by their direct competition with AT&T/T-Mobile’s cable services. The company currently serves more than 14.19 million satellite TV customers.
