For CBS's popular drama "The Good Wife," the timing of the Arnold Schwarzenegger scandal could not be more appropriate.
Or so you might suspect.
According to a CBS rep for the series, the timing is actually unfortunate.
"From a PR point of view," she told TheWrap, speaking hypothetically, "it only would have helped us if he'd done this a few days prior to the finale. Because actually, if it happens the same day, you're just stealing our thunder."
The ripped-from-the-headlines series, about a Chicago attorney (played by Julianna Margulies) who has struggled to stand by her politician husband (Chris Noth) in the aftermath of a very public cheating scandal, will air its second-season finale Tuesday night -- the very day that news about Schwarzenegger's infidelity broke.

The real-world hoopla surrounding the former Governator right now would seem like free tie-in publicity for the CBS drama, which was created by married writing partners Robert and Michelle King in the wake of the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal.
In fact, the parallels have ramped up even more in recent episodes, as Marguilies' character, Alicia Florrick, has separated from Noth's Peter Florrick after learning of a second affair, this time with one of her trusted colleagues.
