"Jersey Shore" will return to Seaside Heights, New Jersey, for its fifth season, MTV announced Friday. Filming will begin later this month.
Additionally, the network said that season four — which is finishing up its shoot in Florence, Italy — will premiere August 4.

Why MTV ever decided to film "Jersey Shore" — a reality show about hard-boozing, frequently tanning hair-gel abusers shacking up together on the New Jersey shore — anywhere other than the Garden State is hard to fathom.
MTV's decision to return to Seaside Heights, where the series' first and third seasons were filmed, may have been a reaction to what has become a troubled shoot in Italy.

In May, the city's mayor, Matteo Renzi, banned producers from shooting Snooki, The Situation and their partying pals at the Uffizi Gallery and other cherished cultural landmarks.
This was after he had declared that the gang couldn't be depicted drinking in the streets or at any of the major tourist destination's many bars.
Of course, none of this stopped Snooki from getting in a fender-bender with a police vehicle in May.
