Keith Olbermann's ouster from Current TV on Friday caught many off-guard, despite his oft-contentious relationship with his former bosses.
However, like the famously outspoken "Countdown" host himself, many in the Twitter community were in no loss for words once word of his firing broke.

While Olbermann reacted to his axing with predictable venom, branding Current TV a "failure," many tweeters found humor in the host's latest employment woes.
Magician-wiseacre Penn Jillette had a little fun with Olbermann's predicament -- and his own reality-show past -- by offering, "Won't be long before Keith Olbermann shows up on #CelebrityApprentice."
"The Daily Show" producer Miles Kahn likewise had a suggestion for Olbermann's TV future, suggesting he pair up with another polarizing and recently axed pundit.
"Sitcom idea: Keith Olbermann and Glenn Beck share an apartment in NY getting fired from everything," Kahn offered.
Yet another attendee at the modern-day Algonquin round table that is Twitter scored a cheap laugh at the expense of Olbermann's replacement, New York governor-turned-celebrity john Eliot Spitzer, whose "Viewpoint With Eliot Spitzer" will premiere Friday night:
"Just how unbearable is Keith Olbermann if Current TV decided to go with the guy that's gonna blow his paychecks on hookers?"
As for the future of Olbermann -- who at times seems determined to burn bridges with the television industry, one ex-boss at a time -- yet another Twitter community member suggested that Olbermann eschew traditional broadcasting and go for a more grass-roots approach.
"Can't we just have Keith Olbermann show up at the homes of the few people who care and be done with it?" he wrote.
And another wag fearfully wrote, "Very concerned that Keith Olbermann's next career move is to just come to my house and yell at me."
