Kevin Hart to Host Video Music Awards

"FIve-year Engagement" funnyman Kevin Hart takes over for MTV awards ceremony

Actor/comedian Kevin Hart will host this year's MTV Video Music Awards, the network said Wednesday.

Hart, who performed the opening monologue for last year's VMAs, has gained prominence in recent months with appearances in "The Five-Year Engagement" and "Think Like a Man."

Hart's hosting duties were announced via a promo released Wednesday, in which Hart employs celebrity "it" couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to break the news.

The 2012 Video Music Awards air Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.

This promo video is so hilarious, I love the look on Kim and Kanye’s face when Hart assumes he’s part of the “new it couple.” I enjoyed watching Hart on “Think like a Man,” and look forward to seeing him in “The Five Year Engagement.” I can’t wait to see him on the VMA’s and I’m not going to miss it, because I’m going to watch it on my phone, thanks to the suggestion of a Dish coworker. My favorite app to use is the Dish Remote Access app because it allows me to watch live and recorded shows and set up DVR timers all on my phone. I love the convenience because I never miss any award show excitement.
