It's official: Lisa Edelstein is abandoning "House."
The actress, who's played Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the hit Fox series since 2004, announced on Tuesday that she's "moving onward" from the series -- though she admits that it wasn't an easy decision.
"After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead," Edelstein said in a statement.
Edelstein won a People's Choice Award for best drama actress in a TV series earlier this year for her portrayal of Cuddy, who has served as both a foil and love interest for the series' main character, Gregory House.
The series was recently picked up by Fox for an eighth season.
