DIY Network and This Old House Ventures are partnering on primetime series "This New House" to premiere on DIY Network in the third quarter of 2010.
Co-hosted by current "This Old House" host Kevin O’Connor and DIY Network’s Amy Matthews ("Sweat Equity," "Blog Cabin"), the 13-episode series will explore the groundbreaking approaches, developing technologies and materials in residential construction. "This New House" will showcase how these technologies and materials are affecting homeowners’ renovation choices and shaping the future of the $272 billion home improvement and homebuilding industries.
Details of the partnership were unveiled Tuesday by Kathleen Finch, general manager of DIY Network, and Michael Burton, VP of television operations and business development of This Old House Ventures.
Finch said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with This Old House on what is sure to be the definitive destination for news and information about the newest and most talked-about products in the world of home improvement and building. As leaders in the do-it-yourself category, it is our job to raise our own bar by developing the kind of destination programming our viewers have come to expect. We are proud to be able to bridge the gap between old and new by joining forces with one of America’s most trusted and recognized television brands.”
"This New House" is produced by Emmy winner Bruce Irving, former executive producer of PBS’ long-running "This Old House."
Both DIY Network and This Old House Ventures will create a broader audience for both brands through print, online and on-air efforts. DIY Network will promote the primetime series via on-air and off-channel marketing, and online promotion on its companion Web site, DIYNetwork.com. In turn, This Old House Ventures will promote the new series in nationally syndicated episodes of "This Old House," on ThisOldHouse.com and in the This Old House magazine and e-newsletter.
