Here's a dose of unpleasant reality, Hollywood: As national televised mega-events go, the Superbowl hands the Oscars its head on a platter, year after year. And it's only getting worse. Perhaps some hail-Mary measures are called for: Hovering blimps? Must-see commercials? Musical acts on a par with Prince and Bruce Springsteen, not Josh Groban, wouldn't hurt. Nor would a little more spirited audience participation -- the terrible towel could become the terrible cumberbund, maybe.
But we're going to kick this over to you... please post your ideas about why the two events are not even competitive any more, and what can be done to change that.
